IRD Commission with Kwale parish plant 100 seedlings to mark the World Environment Day
During the World Environmental Week IRD Commission partnered with YCA Kwale parish to plant trees in the parish. The event was participated by different groups namely: IRD Commission, Sisters of Saint Joseph, YCA Kwale parish, Maria Immaculata primary school and Caritas Mombasa.

The event started with lesson on environmental care from Anthony Darragh whereby they were encouraged to take care of the environment as a call to respond to Pope Francis encyclical letter “Laudato Sii”, which invites us to respect the environment as our common home.

Imam Sheikh Mahamoud Abdallah urged that according to the Muslim teachings God requires everyone to respect every soul because He is the source of all mankind and animals.

On the other hand Rehema, a Muslim leader, said that God had a purpose of creating everything and putting it in its respective place for His glory; therefore as His creation we should continue His work and not abuse it.

A total of 100 trees was planted in the parish and nearby sister’s convent to mark the event.
